Good afternoon Past Presidents!

As you may know, Faynell Poe passed away on July 3, 2025. Barbara, Donna, September Holmblad (past NALS president from Minnesota), Kristy Turner, Nikkie Rice, and I attended her memorial service last Saturday in El Paso and met her two older brothers. (Faynell was the only girl, and the baby of the family).

Prior to us meeting her brothers, Donna and I came up with an idea to encourage memorial donations in Faynell's name to the NALS Foundation. Faynell was a prior NALS Foundation Chair, worked on the Certifying Board for several years, came back to the NALS Foundation again, and was always very giving with her support of Texas ALP, NALS and the Foundation.

Today, the NALS Foundation approved the "Faynell Poe Memorial Fund." All monies donated will be set up in a separate line item account within the Foundation account. The Trustees will then award grants from Faynell's memorial funds. The recipient(s) will be advised that they were awarded a "Faynell Poe Memorial Grant."

This is where you all come in as strong former leaders of Texas ALS/Texas ALP, whether you remain a member or not. Many of us worked with Faynell throughout our term as president, and worked with her on various committees as well.
